Dell Goes for the Gold
Dell Computers wins Gold Standard award for cancer prevention efforts in workplace

Dell Computers has received a Gold Standard certification from the CEO Roundtable on Cancer commending the computer manufacturing giant as committed to employees' cancer prevention.
The CEO Roundtable on Cancer -- a nonprofit organization comprised of CEOs and chaired by Johnson & Johnson chief executive officer, William C. Weldon -- works with the National Cancer Institute and leading health nonprofit organizations and professionals to monitor health standards and practices in corporate culture.
Weldon said the nonprofit was pleased to recognize Dell's efforts to fight cancer by encouraging healthy lifestyles and early detection through routine screenings in addition to providing employees access to cancer clinical trials when a diagnosis occurs.
To earn the CEO Roundtable's Gold Standard, a company must implement programs aimed at reducing cancer risk and offering care in the event of an employee's diagnosis. The workplace must: discourage tobacco use; encourage physical activity; promote healthy diet and nutrition; help employees detect cancer at its earliest stages and provide for quality care, which includes access to clinical trials.
