Allergy Season Shopping Ideas

Most people suffering from allergies can point to a specific trigger that makes their symptoms worse. What they may not know is that there are plenty of grocery store items that can sneak into their diet and add allergy symptoms.

To curtail allergy symptoms, Fred Pescatore, M.D., author of The Allergy & Asthma Cure and The Hamptons Diet, submits some easy diet tips to follow. Pescatore's shopping suggestions encourage the body to reduce allergy inflammation.

Eliminate refined sugar, flour, fermented foods, milk products and grains to avoid allergies.

Dr. Pescatore recommends during tree allergy season to avoid celery, carrots, apples, potatoes, peaches, anise, caraway, coriander, cumin, fennel, parsley and parsnip. During grass allergy season, limit consumption of milk products and all grains.

Additionally, Prescatore suggests taking four vitamin supplements: Vitamin D3 supplements to reduce inflammation, Vitamin C to help combat the added body stress caused by allergies, Vitamin A to help rid the body of mucus, and Vitamin B12 to stabilize the imbalance of bacteria that occurs in the gut of most allergy sufferers.
